Sri Lanka Donates Rs. 178 Million to Gaza Children Fund

News Today: Sri Lanka Contributes Rs. 178 Million to Children of Gaza Fund Amid Ongoing Crisis

Sri Lanka donated Rs.178,770,000 (590,000 USD) to the United Nations agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

The donation was handed over by the President of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe, to the Palestinian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Zuhair Zaid.

The financial contributions and donations are from Sri Lankan citizens to the “Children of Gaza” Fund, an initiative launched by the President to provide for children and families displaced by the ongoing Israeli genocidal aggression in Gaza.

Zaid commended Sri Lanka for its efforts that reflect the spirit of solidarity between the two Countries, as these donations were made at a time when Sri Lanka has been suffering from critical economic conditions.

In April, President Wickremesinghe handed over one million US dollars to the Palestinian government via the United Nations.
