Public Security Minister Vows Immediate Action on Passport Crisis

Public Security Minister Vijitha Herath has assured the public that urgent measures will be taken to resolve the ongoing passport crisis by October 20th. Large queues outside the passport office have caused frustration, and the Minister emphasized that addressing this issue is a key priority for the new government.

After assuming office, Minister Herath confirmed that discussions with the Director General of Immigration and Emigration have taken place, with alternatives proposed to alleviate the situation. The Minister is confident that the queues will end by October 20th, and new passports will be issued efficiently.

In addition to addressing the passport crisis, Minister Herath pledged to uphold law and order in Sri Lanka, ensuring that the police force operates independently, free from political interference. He stressed the importance of maintaining public trust in the police and encouraged senior officers to rectify any malpractices from the past.
