News Today: No Decline in Arugam Bay Tourism Amid Travel Advisory
Despite recent travel advisories, tourism in Arugam Bay remains steady, according to local sources. Tourism operators and hotel owners in the area confirm that there is no unusual drop in foreign tourist arrivals, attributing any perceived decline to the off-season effect. While a few Israeli tourists recently departed following travel advisories, local tourism has seen a significant rise in numbers.
Hotelier K.H. Chandrasena shared that tourism in Arugam Bay has flourished following a challenging period marked by the Easter Sunday attacks and the COVID-19 pandemic. He highlighted that, although it’s currently the off-season, hotels are operating at reasonable rates, ensuring facilities for visiting tourists.
To maintain security in the region, Ampara Division SP J.H.M.N. Jayapathma confirmed that heightened security measures, implemented the previous week, will continue to safeguard tourists and residents alike. This proactive approach underscores Arugam Bay’s readiness to welcome tourists year-round.
