 Empowering Youth at 73rd Cardijn Day Celebration in Colombo

The 73rd Cardijn Day Celebration of YCS Sri Lanka was held at St. Joseph’s College, Colombo 10, on November 10th, 2024. The event brought together over 300 students from all YCS cells in the Colombo Diocese, under the theme “Armed in Faith in a Revolutionary Dawn.” The celebration began with a Holy Mass conducted by Rev. Fr. Gihan Gunathilake and another officiant.

This year’s Cardijn Day included an exciting quiz competition focusing on the history, events, and milestones of YCS and IYCS. Among 128 participating schools, St. Joseph’s College, Colombo 10, emerged as champions. Additionally, Ameesha Guruge from St. Joseph’s College was recognized as the Best Player of the event for his exceptional performance.

The occasion was graced by Chief Guest Rev. Fr. Jude Raj, who delivered an inspiring address highlighting the significance of youth faith movements in creating a brighter, revolutionary future. The celebration also served as a platform for students to deepen their faith, knowledge, and camaraderie.

The event concluded on a high note, leaving a lasting impact on the participants, who returned inspired and empowered to make a difference in their communities.
