President Anura Kumara Dissanayake declared in Parliament yesterday that investigations have revealed the infiltration of underworld activities into certain official institutions responsible for public security.

Speaking at the first meeting of the Ministerial Consultative Committee on Defence of the Tenth Parliament, the President assured that all necessary measures will be taken to completely eradicate the underworld.

Crackdown on Criminal Networks

President Dissanayake emphasized the urgency of eliminating organized crime from Sri Lanka’s security institutions. He stated that law enforcement agencies must undergo strict scrutiny to ensure that no officials are compromised by criminal influences.

During discussions on national security, Justice and National Integration Minister Harshana Nanayakkara stated that a proposal has been prepared to strengthen security at Court complexes.

In the future, security measures will be intensified using modern technology to monitor all parties entering court premises, including lawyers.
