In a significant diplomatic step, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake departed Sri Lanka a short while ago on a three-day official visit to Germany, scheduled from June 11 to June 13, 2025. One of the key highlights of the President’s agenda is his role as chair at the Business Forum hosted by the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK). This event serves as a strategic platform to present Sri Lanka’s economic progress, investment climate, and growth potential to German investors and business leaders.
The President’s schedule also includes meetings with top representatives from Germany’s tourism and travel sectors to promote Sri Lanka as a promising destination, reinforcing tourism as a vital economic driver.
Accompanying the President are Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath, alongside a delegation of senior government officials, to facilitate strategic discussions and partnerships across sectors.
This visit is expected to lay the groundwork for stronger economic cooperation, increase German investments in Sri Lanka, and deepen trade relations between the two nations. It marks a vital step in Sri Lanka’s efforts to reposition itself on the global stage, especially in the European market.
