Colombo Stock Exchange Surges Again as Strong Gains Boost Investor Confidence

News Today: Colombo Stock Exchange continues positive trend with record turnover, banking sector strength, and high investor confidence.

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) continued its positive trend today, marking another bullish day in Sri Lanka’s capital markets. Market optimism was evident from the opening bell, with both key indices posting gains.

The benchmark All Share Price Index (ASPI) gained 136.16 points or +0.71%, closing at 19,379.24, while the S&P SL20 index edged higher by 37.75 points (+0.07%) to finish at 5,727.37.

Total market turnover surged to LKR 6.22 billion, supported by active trading volumes of 354.59 million shares. Crossings accounted for LKR 660.25 million, representing around 10% of the day’s turnover.

The Banking sector led the way, accounting for nearly 18% of the total turnover, indicating renewed investor appetite for financial counters. The upward push was backed by 139 companies gaining in price, compared to 79 counters ending in the red.

Among the top gainers, CINS.N stood out with a turnover of LKR 8.52 million, while CFIN.N, NDB.N, COMB.N, and CTC.N also showed strong performances. COMD.N saw an exceptional price gain of 38.93%, driven by surging investor demand and bullish sentiment.

On the downside, RICH.N was the top decliner, with a turnover of LKR 7.79 million from over 300,000 shares traded. Other notable laggards included AEL.N, GLAS.N, CTHR.N, and CARS.N.

Heavy trading activity was observed in OSEA.N, and the most significant crossing transaction involved JKH.N, which contributed LKR 155.75 million in turnover from 6.23 million shares.

Today’s momentum highlights the resilience and growing investor confidence in Sri Lanka’s equity market. With the banking sector showing strength and broader participation across sectors, the CSE continues to be a beacon of hope for long-term economic recovery and market stability.
