News Today: Sri Lanka GCE O Level 2025 exam dates February 2026 announced

The Department of Examinations of Sri Lanka has officially announced that the GCE Ordinary Level (O/L) Examination for the year 2025 will commence on February 17, 2026, and will continue until February 26, 2026.

Commissioner General of Examinations Indika Liyanage confirmed that all necessary arrangements are already being put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination across the country. The GCE O/L exam is a crucial milestone in the Sri Lankan education system, determining students’ eligibility for higher secondary studies and vocational training programs.

In addition to the O/L exam dates, the Commissioner General also announced that the GCE Advanced Level (A/L) Examination for 2025 will be held from November 10 to December 5, 2025. These schedules are designed to give students and teachers adequate preparation time between the two national examinations, ensuring a structured academic calendar.

The O/L exams, which are typically taken by students in Grade 11, assess proficiency in key subjects such as Mathematics, Science, Languages, and Social Studies. The results play a significant role in shaping students’ academic and career paths.
