Sri Lanka Customs Achieves Record Rs 235B Revenue in July

News Today: Sri Lanka Customs sets new record of Rs 235 billion in July 2025, driven by growth and the new Customs Document Notification System.

Sri Lanka Customs has achieved a historic milestone by recording its highest-ever monthly revenue of Rs 235 billion in July 2025, according to Director General Sunil Nonis. He made the announcement on Friday (15) during the official launch of the Customs Document Notification System (CDNS), a new platform designed to streamline import and export procedures.

Nonis described the achievement as a landmark in the department’s history. Just two years ago, surpassing Rs 100 billion in monthly collections in 2023 was celebrated as a significant success. Now, the Rs 235 billion milestone underscores the department’s continued progress and its vital role in strengthening Sri Lanka’s economy.

The Director General credited a mix of efficient revenue collection, improved systems, and government-backed reforms for driving this record. “Reaching Rs 235 billion is not just a number—it demonstrates the resilience of our economy, the effectiveness of reforms, and the dedication of our officers,” he noted.

The newly launched CDNS platform is expected to further modernize Customs operations by making documentation faster, more transparent, and user-friendly for traders. This digital transformation will reduce inefficiencies in import and export handling, helping businesses operate more smoothly and improving compliance.

Experts suggest that by integrating advanced technology into Customs procedures, Sri Lanka is positioning itself to sustain and potentially increase revenue collections in the coming months. As global trade stabilizes and demand rises, these reforms may further boost foreign trade activities.

Sri Lanka Customs plays a critical role in government revenue, making this achievement an encouraging signal for economic recovery and fiscal stability.

With the implementation of CDNS and plans for further modernization, the department is preparing for even stronger performances in the future.

This record-setting accomplishment marks a new chapter for Sri Lanka Customs, combining tradition with innovation to support economic growth.
