Over 2,900 Sri Lankans Secure Jobs in South Korea in 2025

News Today: Sri Lankans employment opportunities in South Korea 2025 rise with thousands deployed

The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) has announced that over 2,900 Sri Lankans have secured employment opportunities in South Korea in 2025. So far this year, a total of 2,927 Sri Lankans have left for South Korea to work across various sectors, highlighting a growing trend in overseas employment for Sri Lankan workers.

Among the latest group of employees, 100 are young women who are contributing to a diverse workforce abroad. The majority of the workers, 2,197 in total, have secured positions in the manufacturing sector. Additionally, 680 Sri Lankans have found employment in the fisheries sector, 23 in construction, and two in agriculture, reflecting a broad distribution across key industries in South Korea.

The SLBFE also revealed that arrangements are being made to send nearly 200 more Sri Lankans who have already secured jobs before the end of October. With this additional deployment, the total number of Sri Lankans leaving for employment in South Korea since the start of 2025 is expected to surpass 3,000.

In a related development, the Bureau reported that 36,475 candidates have registered for the 2025 Korean Language Proficiency Test, which is set to begin on October 23. This large number of registrations demonstrates the high level of interest among Sri Lankans in preparing for international employment opportunities and meeting the language requirements for jobs in South Korea.

The steady increase in overseas employment, particularly in South Korea, provides significant economic benefits for Sri Lankan families and contributes to the country’s foreign income. Programs facilitated by the SLBFE ensure that workers are supported throughout the process, from job placement to language training, enabling successful overseas employment experiences.

This year’s trend clearly indicates that Sri Lankans are actively seeking and securing international employment opportunities, with South Korea emerging as a key destination for both male and female workers across multiple sectors.
