The electricity tariffs increased from today in Sri Lanka, following an official announcement by the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL). The overall tariff hike stands at 15%, impacting all user categories, from domestic consumers to government and industrial sectors. This move follows public consultations and a comprehensive review of cost structures proposed by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), which originally sought an 18.3% hike.
Domestic Users:

0–30 units: 8% increase. Unit rate rises from Rs. 4.00 to Rs. 4.50. Fixed charge goes from Rs. 75 to Rs. 80.

31–60 units: New unit price is Rs. 8 (up from Rs. 6), and fixed charge is Rs. 210.

61–90 units: Unit price jumps to Rs. 18.50 (from Rs. 14); fixed charge remains Rs. 400.

91–120 units: Rs. 24 per unit (up from Rs. 20); fixed charge Rs. 1,000.

121–180 units: Rs. 41 per unit (up from Rs. 33).
