Father of 14-Year-Old Shooter Arrested in Georgia
News Today: Father of 14 year old US High School shooter arrested in Georgia
The father of a 14-year-old high school shooter in Georgia has been arrested following the tragic killing of four people at Apalachee High School in Winder. Colin Gray, 54, faces multiple charges, including involuntary manslaughter and second-degree murder, after authorities determined he knowingly allowed his son, Colt Gray, access to a firearm. Colt is charged with four counts of murder and will be prosecuted as an adult.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) reported that the incident left two teachers and two students dead, while nine others were injured. Law enforcement is investigating how the teenager obtained the AR-style weapon, with sources suggesting it may have been a gift from his father in December 2023.
The FBI had previously alerted local police in May 2023 about online threats linked to Colt’s email. However, during the interview, Colt denied the threats, and his father claimed the boy did not have unsupervised access to firearms.
The shooting occurred during an algebra class on Wednesday, with witnesses hearing 10-15 gunshots before Colt surrendered to school police officers.
