News Today: Postponed GCE Advanced Level exams rescheduled, starting December 4th
The GCE Advanced Level Examination, initially postponed due to adverse weather, has been rescheduled by three days and will now recommence on December 4th. Examinations Commissioner General Amith Jayasundara announced the revised dates at a media briefing held on November 28th, ensuring minimal disruption for students.
The exams scheduled for November 27th to 29th were postponed to December 21st, 23rd, and 27th, respectively. Other affected dates include November 30th, December 2nd, and December 3rd, which are rescheduled to December 28th, 30th, and 31st, respectively. The General Common Test will take place on December 7th as planned.
The December 4th session will cover Chemistry, Science for Technology, Drama and Theatre, and Political Science. Candidates will follow the previously announced timetable, and a newly printed version with clear distinctions will be distributed at exam centres for clarity.
Jayasundara emphasized that these adjustments aim to ensure students’ mental well-being and allow them to prepare without undue stress. Notifications will also be shared via media channels to keep all candidates informed.
This decision underscores the importance of accommodating unforeseen disruptions while prioritizing the well-being of Sri Lanka’s youth.
