Transport Ministry Unveils Powerful New Facilities for Motorists
News Today: Convenient Facilities for Motorists Announced
The State Minister for Transport, Lasantha Alagiyawanna, announced new initiatives to provide motorists with more convenient and cost-effective facilities for obtaining revenue licenses. Soon, motorists can acquire vehicle insurance, revenue licenses, and vehicle emission certificates from a single location. This integrated service will be available islandwide within two months.
During a press briefing, Minister Alagiyawanna highlighted the collaboration between the Ministry of Transport, the National Building Research Organization (NBRO), and the Central Environment Authority (CEA) to expand air emission measurement centers to 100 within the next six months. Efforts are also underway to consolidate all emission data, enabling citizens to view live air emission conditions online from anywhere in the world.
Additionally, the Transport Ministry is working on providing better equipment and systems for the police, which will include accurate data to determine the causes of accidents and implement improved safety measures. Starting September 1st, a WhatsApp messaging service will notify drivers of their infractions for two months. After this period, relevant laws addressing these violations will be enforced.
These measures are part of a broader effort to enhance convenience, efficiency, and safety for motorists across the country. The integrated services will streamline the process of obtaining essential documents, while the expansion of air emission centers and data consolidation will contribute to better environmental monitoring.
Motorists and the public can look forward to these improvements, which aim to make transportation services more accessible and reliable.
