SJB Criticizes NPP’s Economic Policies as Risky
News Today: SJB criticizes NPP’s economic policies for Sri Lanka’s future
The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has voiced strong criticism against the economic policies proposed by the National People’s Power (NPP) Presidential Candidate, Anura Kumara Dissanayake. SJB Member of Parliament, Mayantha Dissanayake, expressed concerns over the potential economic consequences if NPP’s policies are implemented. Speaking to Legacy Daily, he questioned the feasibility and rationality of the NPP’s proposal to provide loans to young entrepreneurs without collateral.
“National People’s Power Presidential Candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake says that loans will be given without collateral. It is not possible to take a loan without collateral. If people borrow according to Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s method, the country will collapse again economically,” Mayantha Dissanayake stated. He emphasized that Sri Lanka is still grappling with bankruptcy and has not yet begun repaying its foreign debt, underscoring the need for a sustainable economic recovery plan.
Dissanayake further criticized the NPP’s approach, arguing that it lacks a realistic strategy to address the ongoing economic crisis and the debt burden. “A permanent solution is needed to solve the country’s economic crisis and resolve the debt crisis. The Samagi Jana Sandanaya is the only political alliance that can provide that stable solution,” he concluded.
This strong stance by the SJB highlights the ongoing political debate over economic policies and the future direction of Sri Lanka’s financial recovery. The SJB’s critique of the NPP’s policies is part of its broader effort to position itself as the party capable of providing a stable economic future for Sri Lanka.
