President Takes Over Justice Ministry – Must Read!
News Today: Justice Ministry and Prison Affairs Under President’s Control
The Justice Ministry, Prison Affairs, and Constitutional Reforms portfolios have been brought under the purview of the President through a Gazette Extraordinary issued by the President. This Gazette Notification, issued by order of the President, was certified after consultation with the Prime Minister under Article 44 (3) of the Constitution.
Former Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe vacated his post a few days ago, prompting this significant change in ministerial responsibilities. The consolidation of these portfolios under the President’s authority is seen as a strategic move to streamline governance and enhance the effectiveness of justice and prison affairs management.
