President’s Powerful Warning on Unrealistic Promises in Elections

News Today: President Warns Against Unrealistic Promises in Upcoming Elections

President Ranil Wickremesinghe has cautioned the public against voting for any government that makes unrealistic promises, warning such actions could severely damage Sri Lanka’s economy. The President emphasized his commitment to only delivering what is achievable and to not risking the economy with unattainable pledges. He pledged to focus on building a debt-free, advanced country over the next five years, targeting the needs of the youth.

During a recent event, President Wickremesinghe unveiled his manifesto, “Five Triumphant Years for Sri Lanka with Ranil,” which outlines his vision for the nation. The manifesto includes five key principles: “The Theravada Trade Economy,” “Operation – Beyond 2025,” “Towards a Prosperous Nation,” “A Win for the Motherland,” and “A United Sri Lanka.” The manifesto was first presented to religious leaders and the youth of the country, emphasizing the President’s focus on inclusive and sustainable growth.

President Wickremesinghe announced plans to create 100,000 job opportunities in both the public and private sectors, with special provisions for youth and school leavers. The President’s strategy also involves reducing the cost of living, offering tax relief, and promoting economic growth through an export-oriented economy.

The President also launched a new website, www.ranil2024.lk, featuring his manifesto and outlining plans to implement reforms in housing, job creation, and economic growth. He reiterated his commitment to acting within a realistic framework and called on other candidates to align with this strategy to ensure the nation’s prosperity.
