US Deputy Secretary Commends Sri Lanka’s Economic Revival and Security Cooperation
Richard Verma, the United States Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources, met with President Ranil Wickremesinghe and commended the Sri Lankan Government’s efforts to revitalize its economy.
In the meeting, President Wickremesinghe highlighted the ongoing debt restructuring initiatives and a range of significant economic reform measures, including the modernization of the agriculture sector.
On topics concerning global security, Deputy Secretary Verma acknowledged Sri Lanka’s support in naval operations in the Red Sea. President Wickremesinghe reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s dedication to ensuring the Freedom of Navigation in the Indian Ocean and expressed unity with Saudi Arabia’s position against the Houthi rebels.
