News Today: 2024 A Level Results Show 65% University Admission Rate
Examinations Commissioner General Amith Jayasundara announced that 65% of students who sat for the 2024 GCE Advanced Level Examination have qualified for university admission. Out of 274,361 candidates, an impressive 177,588 students have secured eligibility for higher education.
A breakdown of the numbers shows that 222,774 school applicants and 51,587 private applicants appeared for the examination. Among them, 149,964 school candidates and 27,624 private candidates qualified for university admission.
However, the Commissioner also stated that results of 456 candidates — comprising 420 school students and 36 private candidates — have been temporarily suspended due to identified anomalies. Investigations are ongoing to ensure the integrity of the examination process.

In addition, students wishing to request re-scrutiny of their results can submit their applications between May 2nd and May 16th.
