Acting IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon Announces 42 Interpol Red Notices for Fugitives

Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon has announced that 42 Interpol ‘Red Notices’ are issued for criminals who have left the country linked to underworld activities and drug offenses.

At the opening of a new police checkpoint in front of the Colombo National Hospital, Tennakoon stated that these criminal suspects would be extradited back to the island with Interpol’s help.

He also noted that the primary accomplice of the infamous underworld figure Salindu Malshika, also known as “Kudu Salindu,” who was brought back to Sri Lanka early this morning, will undergo further interrogation to reveal more about the drug syndicates in the country.

Additionally, the Acting IGP committed to bringing back the police officer who helped underworld figure Nadun Chinthaka, known as “Harak Kata,” in his unsuccessful escape from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) custody. He mentioned that this repatriation is anticipated shortly, with Interpol’s immediate assistance.

Tennakoon also highlighted that the nationwide anti-drug campaign ‘Yukthiya’ would continue with determination.
