Australia Backs Clean Sri Lanka Initiative with Technical Support

Australia has pledged technical assistance to Sri Lanka in national security, maritime affairs, digitalization, public sector modernization, vocational education, and the energy sector. This commitment was conveyed during a meeting between Australia’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Paul Stephens, and the Secretary to the President, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, at the Presidential Secretariat.

Highlighting the 75 years of friendship between the two nations, High Commissioner Stephens reaffirmed Australia’s dedication to strengthening bilateral ties. He commended President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative and assured Australia’s willingness to support its success.

The meeting emphasized collaborative efforts to modernize Sri Lanka’s public sector, enhance vocational education, and boost maritime security. The Australian government expressed interest in contributing to a sustainable and secure future for Sri Lanka through these initiatives.
