News Today: Many Officials Arrested After Soliciting Bribe from Presidential Candidate

Several officials from the Eksath Lanka Podujana Pakshaya have been arrested for soliciting a bribe of Rs. 30 million. The arrests were made after the party’s secretary and other officials accepted bribes from former PUCSL Chairman Janaka Ratnayake, who is also a Presidential Candidate.

The Bribery Commission officials apprehended the suspects in Borella while they were in the process of offering a party nomination to Ratnayake. This high-profile arrest follows a complaint lodged by Kamantha Thushara, Chairman of the Citizen’s Movement Against Fraud, Corruption, and Waste.
