News Today: CPC Reduces Petrol and Diesel Rates
In a welcome move for consumers across the country, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has announced a reduction in fuel prices, effective from midnight today. This price revision applies to several major fuel types, offering much-needed relief amidst ongoing economic challenges.
According to the CPC, Petrol Octane 92 has been reduced by Rs. 6, setting the new price at Rs. 293 per litre. Meanwhile, Petrol Octane 95 received a significant cut of Rs. 20, bringing the cost down to Rs. 341 per litre.
Lanka Auto Diesel was also adjusted, with a Rs. 12 reduction, making the new price Rs. 274 per litre. In addition, Lanka Super Diesel 4 Star Euro 4 has seen a Rs. 6 price drop, resulting in a revised price of Rs. 325 per litre.
For domestic and lower-income users, the cost of Lanka Kerosene has gone down by Rs. 5, now priced at Rs. 178 per litre.
The CPC stated that the fuel price reduction aligns with global oil price trends and the government’s commitment to pass on the benefit to the public. This move is expected to provide relief to motorists, transport services, and industries dependent on fuel, as well as help lower overall transportation costs across Sri Lanka.
Consumers have welcomed this timely adjustment, especially given the recent fluctuations in global oil markets. The CPC confirmed that any future changes will also reflect market dynamics.
