Ex Minister Lohan Ratwatte, who was recently remanded by the Nugegoda Magistrate, is receiving special protection and medical treatment within the prison system. Ratwatte, arrested by the Mirihana Police in Katugastota on October 31st for possessing an illegally imported luxury vehicle, was ordered by the magistrate to be given additional security provisions due to his previous role as Minister of Prisons. In line with the magistrate’s directive, Ratwatte has been transferred to the prison hospital.

According to Prisons spokesperson Gamini Dissanayake, Ratwatte’s health requires specific medical attention for ailments involving his liver, lungs, and pancreas. A health report from the prison hospital emphasized the need for treatment, recommending his referral to a specialist. Once his medical needs are addressed, Ratwatte will return to the main prison facility based on medical advice.

Ratwatte’s remand is set until November 7th, while the Prison Department continues to follow all necessary steps to safeguard his well-being and security.
