Former Minister Donates Residence to Girl’s School

News Today: Transfer of former Minister’s residence to Sirimavo Bandaranaike Girls’ College

Former Minister of Agriculture and Plantations, Mahinda Amaraweera, has officially handed over his ministerial residence located at Paget Road, Colombo 7, to Sirimavo Bandaranaike Girls’ College. The transfer comes after Minister Amaraweera submitted a proposal to the Cabinet requesting the allocation of the property to the school. The proposal received Cabinet approval, and all necessary legal documentation was processed for the handover.

Amaraweera’s decision to donate his former official residence is seen as a significant contribution to enhancing educational facilities for Sirimavo Bandaranaike Girls’ College, a prominent educational institution in Colombo. As of yesterday, the Minister vacated the premises, completing the transfer process.

This transfer of a high-value government property to an educational institution demonstrates a strong commitment to improving the country’s academic infrastructure. The Sirimavo Bandaranaike Girls’ College will now have more resources to support the growth and development of its students, thanks to this substantial contribution by the former Minister.
