Government’s Bold Plan to Make Sri Lanka Cleanest Country in Asia

News Today: Sri Lanka aims to be the cleanest country in Asia, says President Anura Kumara Dissanayake

The Government of Sri Lanka is preparing to launch an ambitious project aimed at making the country the cleanest in Asia. This announcement was made by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake during an election rally in Katunayake. A Presidential Task Force (PTF) will be established with the primary focus of maintaining cleanliness across all regions of the country, from urban centers to rural areas.

The President emphasized that this initiative will focus on maintaining clean public spaces, including bus stands, railway stations, buses, trains, lavatories, rivers, and beaches. The aim is to create a cleaner and more sustainable environment for all Sri Lankans and tourists alike. In addition to local efforts, the government will introduce a contributory fund, allowing expatriate Sri Lankans to donate towards this national cause.

The project will be formally launched following the General Elections, with the hope of transforming Sri Lanka into a shining example of cleanliness and environmental responsibility in Asia. This initiative aligns with the government’s broader efforts to improve public health, enhance the quality of life, and attract more tourists to the island.

The government has called for public participation in this mission, as it aims to create a national movement toward cleanliness and sustainability.
