News Today: Hesha Withanage Responds to Damitha Abeyratne’s Claims
Former SJB MP and Ratnapura District Group Leader Hesha Withanage has responded to actress Damitha Abeyratne’s claims regarding her removal from the nominations list for the upcoming general elections. In a press statement, Withanage extended his best wishes to all party members, emphasizing that his focus remains on the people’s interests.
Speaking to reporters, Withanage stated, “It is my responsibility to extend best wishes to anyone in our party who has the opportunity to represent our nation. Wishing someone well is one aspect, but working towards securing victory for this district is another.” He made it clear that his decisions are driven by the needs of Ratnapura’s people and not personal ambitions.
Addressing Abeyratne’s removal, he highlighted that the decision was not made unilaterally. “This is a democratic party, and decisions are made collectively. There are times when individual decisions must be made for the people’s victory, and there’s nothing wrong with that if it benefits the district,” he explained.
Withanage reaffirmed his commitment to the Ratnapura district, stating that the party’s primary goal is ensuring the well-being of the community and working together to achieve victory in the upcoming elections.
