Bold Initiative to Tackle Corruption in Ministries

News Today: Fraud and Corruption to be Investigated

Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa announced the establishment of investigation units within ministries to address fraud and corruption in Sri Lanka. This decision, approved by the Cabinet, aims to ensure accountability and transparency in public institutions, meeting the growing demand for justice from the people.

During a media briefing at the Government Information Department, Dr. Jayatissa revealed that complaints regarding irregularities, corruption, and fraud in previous governments have been received by the Presidential Secretariat, Prime Minister’s Office, ministerial offices, and public representatives. To address these issues systematically, a framework is being developed under the leadership of experienced Grade 1 officers or executive officers of the public service.

The initiative seeks to empower citizens by providing them with a formal avenue to report complaints and irregularities. This public-focused measure reflects the government’s commitment to restoring public trust and promoting transparency in governance.
