President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has declared the commencement of International Sovereign Bond restructuring as a significant milestone in Sri Lanka’s economic recovery. In his address, the President expressed gratitude to Sri Lanka’s external creditors, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the Official Creditor Committee (OCC) for their collaborative efforts in reaching this pivotal moment.

“Today’s announcement of the International Sovereign Bond restructuring with private creditors marks a critical step forward,” he stated. The President emphasized that the good faith negotiations have paved the way for this achievement, reflecting the dedication of all parties involved.

Highlighting the successful achievement of the Staff Level Agreement on the third review of the IMF-supported program on November 22, he urged private creditors to actively participate in the debt restructuring process.
