Israel’s Aggressive Air Strikes on Lebanon After Hezbollah Threats
News Today: Israel Launches Aggressive Air Strikes on Lebanon Following Hezbollah Threats
Israel launched aggressive air strikes against Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah positions following threats from the militant group. According to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency (NNA), Israel’s “large-scale air aggression” struck multiple locations, including Chqif Castle, Ain Qana, Kfar Fila, Louaizeh, Bsalia, Kfar Melki, and the Bir Kalb area, along with the outskirts of Sajd, Kfar Fila, and Sarba. The air strikes resulted in one fatality in Khiam, with a Lebanese and a Syrian man injured in southern Lebanon, according to the health ministry.
The Israeli military, the IDF, conducted these pre-emptive strikes after detecting Hezbollah’s plans for an extensive attack on Israel. In response, Hezbollah reportedly fired over 320 rockets towards Israel, targeting 11 military sites in the north.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, at an emergency national security cabinet meeting, emphasized that Israel would “do everything to protect our country” and reiterated a strong stance: “whoever harms us – we harm them.” Netanyahu stated that the IDF had acted “proactively to remove the threat” and had been working to thwart further threats by destroying thousands of rockets aimed at northern Israel.
Despite the escalation, Israel’s Foreign Minister, Israel Katz, clarified that Israel does not seek an all-out war but is committed to defending its citizens and territory against what it describes as an “axis of evil” led by Iran. Israel stated it would “act according to developments on the ground” to ensure the safety and security of its population.
