Powerful Israeli Air Strike Hits Central Beirut, 5 Dead

News Today: Israeli air strike hits central Beirut killing 5 people

An Israeli air strike on a building in central Beirut has killed at least five people and wounded eight others, according to Lebanese officials. The targeted building in Bachoura, near Lebanon’s parliament, housed a Hezbollah-affiliated health center. Israel’s military described the attack as a “precision strike.”

This marks the first Israeli attack near central Beirut, with other air strikes hitting Hezbollah strongholds in Dahieh, a southern suburb of the city. The airstrikes follow the deaths of eight Israeli soldiers in combat with Hezbollah fighters in southern Lebanon.

The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has escalated, with Israeli ground troops now entering southern Lebanon. Hezbollah has retaliated by firing anti-tank missiles, destroying Israeli tanks and resisting the Israeli offensive. Despite heavy losses, Hezbollah claims to have enough fighters and ammunition to continue the battle.

Lebanese authorities report over 1,200 deaths and 1.2 million people displaced across Lebanon as Israeli air strikes intensify. In addition to Lebanese citizens, a US permanent resident, Kamel Ahmad Jawad, was among those killed, sparking international concern.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) continue to dismantle Hezbollah’s infrastructure, aiming to push the militant group back and secure the return of displaced Israelis to border regions. Hezbollah remains a significant power in Lebanon, despite years of conflict.
