Muttiah Muralitharan’s Game-Changing Investment in Karnataka

Muttiah Muralitharan’s investment in Karnataka beverage industry to reach Rs. 1,400 crore.

Legendary Sri Lankan cricketer and businessman Muttiah Muralitharan is set to invest Rs. 1,400 crore to establish a beverage and confectionery unit in Badanaguppe, Karnataka. The state’s Minister for Commerce, M B Patil, shared this news on his X (Twitter) page after a meeting with Muralitharan.

“A Rs. 1,000 crore manufacturing facility is currently under development in Chamarajanagar district, with plans to escalate investment to Rs. 1,400 crore. He remains committed to continuing operations in Dharwad,” said M B Patil. The meeting also saw the presence of Shri. Selvakumar, Principal Secretary of Industries, and Commissioner Smt. Gunjan Krishna, focusing on coordination and support for the project.

Muralitharan, who already operates a soft drink and confectionery manufacturing plant in Sri Lanka, is expanding his business to South India. The cricketer businessman will manufacture beverages and confectioneries under the brand “Muttiah Beverages and Confectioneries”. With 46 acres of land allocated, operations are expected to commence in January 2025.
