Reappoint National Security Advisor to Save Tourism

News Today: Reappointing National Security Advisor to protect Sri Lanka’s tourism.

Former Presidential Advisor Sagala Rathnayaka urges the Sri Lankan Government to reappoint the National Security Advisor in light of potential terrorist threats that could severely harm the nation’s economy, particularly the growing tourism sector. Addressing the media yesterday, he emphasized the need for proactive measures to avoid such risks.

“Our previous government created an international intelligence-sharing network, which helped us safeguard the country from major threats in recent years. However, if the current administration had followed through on those security protocols, these threats wouldn’t have emerged,” Rathnayaka stressed.

He further warned that issuing statements harming the nation’s image would have a direct negative impact on the economy by creating issues in securing foreign exchange, reducing job opportunities, and disrupting business activities. “These situations could directly impact tourism, which is essential to Sri Lanka’s economy,” he added.

Sagala Rathnayaka insists that reappointing the National Security Advisor would prevent potential threats and strengthen the country’s safety.
