New Political Party Emerges for SLPP MPs Backing President Wickremesinghe

News Today: New political party for SLPP MPs 2024 supports President Ranil Wickremesinghe

A special discussion regarding the creation of a new political party for the parliamentarians representing the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna who support President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the upcoming Presidential poll was held in Colombo yesterday (20) with the participation of nearly 100 SLPP MPs.

It has been decided to field candidates through this new political party for any election held after the next presidential election.

Over 100 SLPP MPs who express support to President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the forthcoming Presidential Election have participated in this meeting chaired by Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and Chief Government Whip and Minister Prasanna Ranatunga.

Several names have been proposed for the new political party. Since the constitution for the new political party that will be formed in the future has already been prepared, the parliamentarians have decided to act according to that constitution.
