News Today: Fuel Pricing Committee confirms no change in Sri Lanka fuel prices July 2025
The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has officially announced that fuel prices in Sri Lanka will remain unchanged for the month of July. CPC Managing Director, Dr. Mayura Netthikumarage, confirmed this decision ahead of the scheduled meeting of the Fuel Pricing Committee taking place today.
Dr. Netthikumarage explained that the final determination on local fuel pricing for July will be based on several key factors, primarily the current global crude oil price trends and the cost of recent fuel imports. Despite recent market fluctuations, global crude oil prices have generally remained stable, with some indications of slight declines over the past few weeks.
“Given the current stability in the global oil market, we do not foresee any notable price fluctuations for local consumers this month,” Dr. Netthikumarage stated.
The Fuel Pricing Committee regularly reviews and adjusts local prices, taking into account last month’s fuel rates, international price movements, and shipping and import costs. By keeping fuel prices stable in July, the CPC aims to support both domestic consumers and businesses who are already facing economic challenges.
This announcement is likely to be welcomed by motorists and industries alike, who had concerns over potential price hikes amid global economic uncertainties. The CPC reiterated its commitment to monitor market conditions closely and to adjust fuel pricing transparently and fairly, based on economic realities.
Fuel price stability is seen as a crucial element in controlling transportation costs, inflation, and overall cost of living. With global crude oil prices showing little volatility, the CPC expects this trend to continue at least through July, offering some economic relief to the public.
