Norochcholai Power Plant Resumes: Power Supply Restored Soon!

News Today: The Norochcholai Power Plant is set to resume operations by February 14, ensuring Sri Lanka’s power supply stabilizes.

The Norochcholai Power Plant will be back in operation by Friday, February 14, restoring Sri Lanka’s power supply to normalcy, according to Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) media spokesman Dhammika Wimalaratne.

Temporary Power Cuts Before Full Restoration

CEB is making every effort to bring the three Norochcholai power plants back into operation even before the target date. In the meantime, a demand-side management system has been implemented to manage power distribution effectively.

  • Power cuts will be in effect from 3:30 PM to 9:30 PM daily
  • The country is divided into multiple zones
  • Each zone will experience a maximum of 1.5 hours of power cuts

“Once the Norochcholai Power Plant is back in operation, expected by the 14th, the power supply will return to normal,” Wimalaratne stated.

Official Power Cut Schedule to Be Released

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has approved the power management system for today, with a new official power cut schedule set to be released tomorrow.
