Tilvin Silva speaking about the NPP's stance on agreements with President Wickremesinghe.

NPP Denies Agreement with President Ranil: Silva Sets Record Straight

National People’s Power dismisses false rumours about deals with President Wickremesinghe.

The National People’s Power (NPP) has firmly denied allegations of entering into a Memorandum of Understanding with President Ranil Wickremesinghe. Speaking to Legacy Daily, NPP national secretary Tilvin Silva clarified that no such agreement had been signed and dismissed the rumours as baseless.

Silva emphasized that there is no reason for the NPP to strike a deal with the President. He pointed out that the recent postponement of the Local Government election was a tactic to prevent the NPP from winning. “They try to stop our victory even by postponing Cooperative elections. But, the real deal is between the Rajapaksas and Wickremesinghe,” he stated.

Silva also highlighted that leaders of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) are currently in discussions with President Wickremesinghe and are planning to join him. “They discuss future plans with Ranil at night and during the day they accuse us of signing deals with Ranil,” Silva noted.

The NPP’s denial comes amid growing political tension and speculation about alliances and deals within the country’s political landscape. Silva’s statements aim to set the record straight and underscore the party’s commitment to transparency and its goals.

The accusations and counter-accusations reflect the complex dynamics and strategic maneuvering in Sri Lankan politics. The NPP remains focused on its objectives and continues to prepare for upcoming electoral challenges, undeterred by what it perceives as deliberate misinformation campaigns by its opponents.
