NPP Leader Denies False Rumours of Secret Deal with President

News Today: NPP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake Denies Secret Deal Rumours

National People’s Power (NPP) Presidential Candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake has firmly denied rumours circulating that he is involved in a “secret deal” with President Ranil Wickremesinghe. Speaking to Legacy Daily, Dissanayake blamed various politicians for spreading false accusations since Wickremesinghe was contesting as an independent candidate. Dissanayake dismissed these claims, emphasizing that he and Wickremesinghe are not friends but competitors in the ongoing political battle. He further alleged that a deal between Wickremesinghe and Sajith Premadasa seemed more likely, as they appear united in their attempts to defeat him.

Dissanayake remarked that his main focus has been on winning the election, and he hasn’t had time to meet with Wickremesinghe. However, he pointed out that both Wickremesinghe’s camp and the SJB had been actively spreading false rumours to secure more votes. The NPP leader reiterated his stance against collaborating with SLPP members, accusing them of corruption and aligning themselves with Wickremesinghe.

Recently, Wickremesinghe criticized the NPP’s manifesto, claiming they intended to increase exports by terminating free trade agreements. He also accused Dissanayake of threatening the citizens in the North. Meanwhile, Sajith Premadasa, during his election rallies, accused both Wickremesinghe and Dissanayake of conspiring against him.
