Oppenheimer leads the night at 81st Golden Globes
While expectations were high for Barbenheimer to be the night’s big story, the Golden Globes saw Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer leading the night with five major wins.
“Oppenheimer” received the award for best motion picture in the drama category, with Christopher Nolan was honored with the directing award. “Poor Things” secured the Globe for best motion picture in the musical or comedy genre. “Anatomy of a Fall” claimed the award for best non-English-language motion picture, and “The Boy and the Heron “was recognized as the best animated film.
2023 box-office sensation “Barbie didn’t go home empty-handed, but had Emma Stone starrer “Poor Things” stealing some of its thunder. Surprisingly, Taylor Swift went home empty-handed with her Era’s Tour film overshadowed by Barbie, which bagged a new cinematic and box office achievement award. Billie Elish and Finneas won best original song for the TikTok viral “What Was I made For?” Featured in Barbie.
Meanwhile in television, “Succession” earned the title of best drama series, whereas “The Bear” secured the accolade for the best TV series in the musical or comedy category.
