Prime Minister Emphasizes Vocational Education for a Promising Future

News Today: Discover why vocational education leads to a promising future

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya highlighted yesterday that vocational education leads to a promising future, directly contributing to the economy. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony where Nalin Hewage officially assumed duties as Deputy Minister of Vocational Education at Nipunatha Piyasa, Narahenpita, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of changing societal attitudes toward vocational training.

She noted that education is a top priority for the current government. Despite being treated as separate entities, education, higher education, and vocational education are interconnected components of a holistic system. She stressed that vocational education is not just an alternative for students unable to pursue other pathways but a respectable choice providing a direct path from school to higher education.

The government is committed to repositioning vocational education as a key driver of economic growth. “Our government views vocational education as an essential sector that deserves respect and recognition. It equips individuals with skills that ensure employability and long-term success,” Dr. Amarasuriya stated.

The Prime Minister’s remarks underline the need for a cultural shift in how vocational education is perceived. With initiatives like these, the government aims to bridge the gap between education and the workforce, fostering a brighter future for the youth.
