The President’s Media Division (PMD) officially confirmed today that Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has arrived in the United States to participate in the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). This high-level global summit, held annually in New York, brings together world leaders to deliberate on international peace, sustainable development, and pressing global challenges.
Upon his arrival in the U.S., President Dissanayake was warmly welcomed by Sri Lanka’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, former Chief Justice and President’s Counsel Jayantha Chandrasiri Jayasuriya. His presence signifies Sri Lanka’s continued commitment to active engagement with the international community on issues ranging from global security to climate change, trade, and sustainable development.
Joining the President on this important official visit is Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, Vijitha Herath, who will also participate in parallel diplomatic discussions.
