President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has directed officials to deliver immediate relief to disaster-stricken areas, emphasizing on-site information gathering rather than relying solely on technological data. Speaking at the Presidential Secretariat, the President stressed the importance of establishing a grassroots-level mechanism to expedite relief efforts.

Key actions include ensuring affected individuals are provided secure shelters with essential food, water, and sanitation. The President instructed state authorities to allocate sufficient funds for these urgent relief measures.

High-risk regions, including the Northern and Eastern Provinces, were identified as priorities due to severe weather impacts. Special attention was also directed toward aiding fishermen currently at sea and ensuring their safe return.

President Dissanayake urged education officials to focus on supporting the mental well-being of students sitting for the Advanced Level Examination, addressing the unique challenges they face in disaster-hit areas.
