President Slams Opposition, Emphasizes Discipline in Education

President Ranil Wickremesinghe Emphasizes Education Discipline Amid Sabotage Claims

President Ranil Wickremesinghe accused the opposition of sabotaging and disrupting school education, emphasizing the need for preventive measures. He stated that no one must be allowed to disrupt school education between 7:30 am and 1:30 pm and instructed the Attorney General to ensure this is prevented in the future.

The President stressed that education in a country cannot thrive without discipline and that priority must be given to children’s education. He discussed with the Education Minister about teacher transfers and promotions, aiming to implement a fair system.

At a recent ceremony at Temple Trees, where appointments were awarded to Education Administrative Service officers and teaching positions were given to graduates and diploma holders, the President highlighted the importance of dedication in the teaching profession. Appointments were granted to 60 individuals approved by the Education Service Committee of the Public Service Commission, and teaching positions were awarded to 1,706 graduates and 453 English diploma holders.

President Wickremesinghe concluded by reiterating that education in a country cannot thrive without discipline and urged all professionals in the teaching industry to adhere to this principle.
