President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has assured the public that the truth behind the Easter Sunday attacks will be revealed, emphasizing that a fair investigation is currently being carried out. Speaking at a National People’s Power election rally in Katunayake, the President highlighted that the main conspirators are now attempting to undermine the ongoing investigations, which are being formally implemented.

The President affirmed that the government will not allow any interference in the investigations. Special attention has been paid to the Easter attacks, and the Police Department has been restructured to handle the inquiry effectively. The government has appointed capable individuals and established an institutional system to carry out the pending investigations in a systematic manner, which has caused concerns among certain culprits involved in the conspiracy.

President Dissanayake condemned individuals who exploited the Easter attacks for political gain and spread racism to secure power. He noted that two reports currently in circulation were initiated by former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s administration, but neither of them were investigative commissions. One committee examined videos shown on Channel-4, while the other assessed whether there was negligence by the security forces during the Easter attack. These reports were prepared for political purposes, not for thorough investigations.

The President vowed to ensure that the true perpetrators are brought to justice.
