Major Construction Projects Resume at BIA With JICA Support

News Today: BIA Development and Other Projects Resume With Japan’s Backing JICA

The second phase of the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) Development Project has officially recommenced with the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

This was confirmed during a meeting between JICA’s Chief Representative, Yamada Tetsuya, and the Secretary to the President, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, at the Presidential Secretariat. Additionally, the discussion focused on launching the Terrestrial Television Broadcast Digitization Project, another key initiative backed by JICA.

The Japanese Ambassador stressed the urgency of completing 11 ongoing construction projects supported by JICA, signaling a strong commitment to improving infrastructure in Sri Lanka. These efforts reflect the ongoing collaboration between Sri Lanka and Japan in driving the nation’s development.
