Remanded Keheliya Rambukwella granted Parliament attendance, opts out

Former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, who is currently in remand custody until February 15 due to his involvement in the contentious scandal surrounding the procurement of human immunoglobulin, has been granted the right to participate in today’s Parliamentary session, according to a statement from the Prisons spokesperson.

Despite this, MP Rambukwella has conveyed to prison officials his decision to abstain from attending the session today.

The ceremonial opening of the fifth session of the ninth Parliament will commence under the leadership of President Ranil Wickremesinghe today, where the President is expected to deliver the government’s policy statement.
