Sanath Jayasuriya Stays as Sri Lanka Head Coach

News Today: Sanath Jayasuriya to remain as Sri Lanka head coach after clinching the series

Sri Lanka Cricket has confirmed that legendary batsman Sanath Jayasuriya will continue as the head coach of the Sri Lanka men’s cricket team for another year. Jayasuriya was initially appointed as interim coach in July, following Chris Silverwood’s decision not to renew his contract. Under Jayasuriya’s leadership, Sri Lanka recorded a significant series win against India, followed by a historic 2-0 series victory against New Zealand.

Kamindu Mendis starred in the final Test, equalling Don Bradman’s record by scoring his fifth century in just 13 innings. Kamindu also became Sri Lanka’s fastest player to reach 1,000 Test runs, remaining unbeaten at 182 from 282 balls, including 16 boundaries and four sixes.

Nishan Peiris, making his Test debut as an off-spinner, took six wickets, adding another record to Sri Lanka’s impressive performance. This string of victories further solidified Jayasuriya’s position as head coach.
