Lanka Sathosa has reduced prices of five essential food items, providing much-needed relief to consumers across Sri Lanka.
Lanka Sathosa, under the directive of the Trade, Commerce, and Food Security Ministry, has implemented a special price reduction on five essential food items, effective from January 30, 2025. This move aims to ease the financial burden on consumers and ensure that essential commodities remain affordable.
Shoppers can now purchase imported Big Onions, Wheat Flour, White Sugar, Red Lentils, and White Kekulu Rice at lower prices from any Sathosa retail outlet across the country.
Updated Prices of Essential Food Items
🔹 Big Onions (Imported) – Reduced from Rs. 230 to Rs. 220 (Saving: Rs. 10 per kg)
🔹 Wheat Flour – Reduced from Rs. 175 to Rs. 165 (Saving: Rs. 10 per kg)
🔹 White Sugar – Reduced from Rs. 240 to Rs. 235 (Saving: Rs. 5 per kg)
🔹 Red Lentils – Reduced from Rs. 288 to Rs. 285 (Saving: Rs. 3 per kg)
🔹 White Kekulu Rice (Imported) – Reduced from Rs. 210 to Rs. 209 (Saving: Rs. 1 per kg)
This initiative is part of the government’s commitment to stabilizing food prices and supporting households, particularly amid rising living costs. Consumers are encouraged to visit their nearest Sathosa outlet to take advantage of these reduced prices.
