News Today: SLPP MP Namal Rajapaksa accuses former CID officials of involvement in the Easter Sunday attacks.

SLPP MP Namal Rajapaksa has accused former CID Director Shani Abeysekera and former Senior DIG Ravi Seneviratne of being involved in the 2019 Easter Sunday terrorist attacks. Speaking at a public meeting yesterday, Rajapaksa demanded a thorough investigation into their alleged role, emphasizing that they used their government positions to evade accountability.

He urged President Ranil Wickremesinghe to initiate a deeper probe into the matter.

“Individuals like Shani Abeysekera and Ravi Seneviratne held key positions during the Easter Sunday attacks. They know exactly what happened and how. The government must question them first,” Rajapaksa stated.

Furthermore, he claimed that two sons of a National List MP from the NPP were involved in one of the attacks and called for an inquiry into their alleged links. He accused the government of politicizing the investigations rather than holding the real culprits accountable.

Rajapaksa firmly stated that the true masterminds behind the attacks were within the previous government and not members of the SLPP.
