Special Committee to Probe Corruption and Malpractices at Airport and Aviation Services

News Today: Special committee probe corruption at Airport and Aviation Services Sri Lanka seeks public views for national airline recovery.

A Special Presidential Investigation Committee has been appointed to probe fraud, corruption, and malpractices at Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Ltd. (AASL) and SriLankan Airlines for the period from 2010 to 2025.

The Committee has officially called for complaints, proposals, and views from the public, employees, and staff members regarding misconduct in the institutions. All submissions must be made on or before 5 September 2025.

📩 Submissions can be emailed to psicairport@gmail.com or sent via WhatsApp to 070-3307700. The Committee will later schedule meetings with individuals and groups to further discuss the submitted concerns.

This body was created under Cabinet Decision No. 25/1145/801/018 dated 1 July 2025, following a Cabinet Memorandum presented by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on 30 June 2025.

The Committee is chaired by former Auditor General H.M. Gamini Wijesinghe and is mandated to conduct a comprehensive study of financial and operational activities within AASL and SriLankan Airlines. This includes investigating aircraft leasing deals, recruitment practices, and financial irregularities that were not fully covered by earlier probes, such as the inquiry led by the J.C. Weliamuna Committee under the previous administration.

The primary goal is to explore all measures to revive the national airline and strengthen Airport and Aviation Services, ensuring long-term sustainability without privatization.

By engaging the public and employees directly, the Committee aims to bring transparency, accountability, and credible reform to the sector.
